A friend of mine was teaching a lesson yesterday (which class I was in) and he told us a story about a man had just been asked if he could fulfil a leadership position in a large organisation (this large organisation spanned most of the world). Before the man was able to be appointed they wanted to make sure he had the support of his Wife because the role is very demanding and requires much dedication, focus and commitment. His Wife confirmed that she was in support of his new role and then they moved forward.
Soon after the acceptance of the role they asked his Wife if she could deliver a brief speech about her husband and their life so far. During her talk she said “if there was one word that could effectively describe her husband it would be integrity”.

What an awesome assessment for your partner to give you!

Integrity is probably the most sought after attribute of a good character and the assessment by the closest person in your life is probably the hardest test to pass, because they get to see you and the person that you are when no one else is looking.

This story really made me think about how I can be better and what more I can do, so if anyone asked my Wife to choose a word that best described me she would choose integrity .

I think it’s certainly something to keep striving for.

Today I met with one of the wealthiest men I know and he gave me some advice about wealth, business and life so I thought I would share it with you:

1. Spend less than you earn.
2. Learn about the value of compound interest.
3. Only invest in what you know.
4. Buy property in an area close to where you live and understand the market.
5. Don’t sell property unless you are using the money to fund a superior property or have a better use for the money in a superior investment.
6. There is no quick money and if there seems to be ignore it.
7. Only buy what you can afford.
8. Success takes time.
9. Nurture relationships, as much of his success has come from long standing relationships.
10. Always make decisions based on high integrity otherwise don’t make them.

I spoke with this man for approx 2 hours and the conversation was inspirational. He would be worth many billions of dollars and has no debt. He just purchased another prime property recently for $100,000,000 and paid cash. Now that’s real wealth!

It was one of the best meetings of my life.

I learnt more about wealth in those 2 hours than I have learnt in many years.

Just goes to show how important mentors are in your life!

Quick tip: The best way to remember someone’s name when you first meet them is to say their name twice, back to them straight after they say their name.
For instance: When they say Hi my name is Sam, then you say….. Hi Sam it’s great to meet you….. (Then use their name in a sentence again immediately) Sam have you been on the Coast for long?
Then if you can use their name one more time (if possible) in another sentence or question (all within the first couple of minutes of meeting them) then you will remember clients/associates names most of the time.
The key is to repeat their name back to them at least two times within the first minute or so.
